Even before the sun went down on a Wednesday night, the bartenders
were busy serving up drinks to a crowded bar.
After a 4 month wait, loyal customers of the King's X are finally
celebrating its reopening.
Owner Ted Aikman says he's made changes to make sure his bar isn't
shut down again.
In January, the TABC pulled the bar's liquor license saying its
employees over served a customer.
That customer allegedly hit and killed a couple driving home from the
bar back in 2007.
A few weeks after it closed, a truck crashed into front of the bar,
destroying the entrance.
Aikman had to rebuild and get financing before reapplying for a new
liquor license.
He says all his staff is now trained by the state and he plans to have
more employee meetings to talk about ways his staff can handle
customers who have had too much to drink.
For the next year, the King's X will have to close at midnight when other
bars can stay open until 2.

doors.   For this business, nearly a half century in the Sun City was reason enough to reopen their doors.

Getting back to work couldn't come soon enough for owner Ted Aikman.   After 46 years, the family business has created
an extended family of sorts.  "I had made a deal with the TABC back in November to shut down for three months and do
some extra education and everything, which was no problem.   I appreciate doing that and trying to make El Paso's a safer
city" He said.

The bar was closed facing accusations from the TABC of over-serving customers after a customer killed two people with
his car after drinking at the bar.   It was a situation that some customers say unjustly targeted King's X. "I didn't think it was
fair.   It something that happens to a million other bars around here.   I think they got picked on" said Jennifer Keffer,
King's X patron.

Making matters worse, a truck crashed into a wall while it was closed.   But with 20 or 30 inquiries every day the
re-opening was made possible thanks to word of mouth and employees who look at their position as more than a job. "The
staff has been here forever, so everyone knows everyone and we're glad that it's open again" said Jerry Kidd, King's X
patron.

Others, so loyal to King's X, say they refused to go anywhere else until it re-opened. "I wouldn't go out to any other bar
'cause Teddy's a good friend of mine.   We're family here, and it was fun coming here and opening this place back up"
said Henry Enriquez, King's X patron.
